In a mechanism for the parallel guiding of furniture parts adjustable in height in which two columns 4 are vertically slidable in pillars 1 and connected by struts 5, the pillars 1 being connected by struts 2, the struts 2, 5 are guided parallel to one another by scissor linkages 7 having one end of arms 8, 9 pivoted to the struts and the other ends slidable by means of pins 11, 12 in slots 13, 14.
