Abstract

In an electric thermal storage space heater the storage core comprises heat insulating blocks 6 containing electrical heating elements 7 arranged alternately with high thermal conductivity blocks 8, one end of each of the blocks 8 abutting an air passage 4. In the embodiment the blocks 6 also abut the passage 4. The blocks are joined together with tongue and groove joints and the core is sealed from the air by the housing 1 and lining 5 of passage 4 to reduce corrosion. The insulating blocks are made of a ceramic material such as cold-bonded corundum and the high conductivity blocks of iron-chromium alloy.
