Abstract

1,064,133. Ball and roller bearings. RUBBER PLASTICS Ltd. Dec. 31, 1963 [Dec. 31, 1962], No. 51340/63. Heading F2A. A ball or roller bearing has a casing 1 of plastics material such as polyurethane, the casing being on the outer race 2 and having flanges 1<SP>1</SP> to hold sealing rings 6, 6<SP>1</SP> against the outer race. The casing may be cast or moulded on to the bearing with the rings in place. The rings may extend to seal against a shaft 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, or may be turned inwardly to seal against the sides of the inner race (Fig. 1, not shown) or to bear on the outer cylindrical surface of the inner race (Fig. 2, not shown). The sealing rings which may be metal or plastics may be used to retain lubricant or to exclude dirt. The plastics casing is stated to be noise-suppressing.
