Abstract

1,063,658. Valves. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Jan. 1, 1965, No. 60/65. Heading F2V. [Also in Divisions F4 and G3] A diaphragm closure 12 is held in the closed position shown against the action of the inlet fluid, e.g. gaseous fuel, beneath the diaphragm by the combined forces of a spring 20 and the inlet fluid admitted to a chamber 16 above the diaphragm. The chamber 16 is connected to the inlet 6 via a duct 37, a flexible hose 34 and the open end of a hollow member 27; upon energizing an electric heating-coil 22 an adjustably-located rod 21 expands and seats the open end of the member 27 against a spring- loaded ball-valve 28 to shut-off the chamber 1 6 from the inlet 6; further expansion of the rod 21 unseats the valve 28 and vents the chamber 16 via a fitting 43 whereupon the diaphragm closure 12 is unseated. The rod is guided by projections in the bore in a body web 30 through which it passes.
