Abstract
1,063,262. Discharge lamps; adhesive cables. A. R. WARNER. Dec. 23, 1963 [Sept. 24, 1962], No. 36205/62. Headings H1A and H1D. An external electrode for a gas discharge lamp comprises a conductor, e.g. a wire (11, Fig. 1, not shown), supported, and spaced from the tube, by an expanded plastic spacer (10), the face of the plastic spacer adjacent the tube being coated with an adhesive. The conductor may be carried in an insulating sleeve (12), and the adhesive layer may be protected, before attachment, by a cover strip (14). The plastic spacer &c. (10, 12) may be continuous, or to render the assembly more flexible, may be in sections spaced, and slidable, along the wire. The expanded plastic may be polythene or polyurethane, “-# inch thick, for a tube operating at 20 kc/s.
