A fuel cell has a reactant supply system comprising a supply conduit 82 with holes 88, 90 feeding gas into chambers 33, 35 and exhaust conduits 96, 99 also perforated at 100 and 98. The arrangement of the holes 88, 90, 100, 98 is such that the gas passing through the chambers 33, 35 will flow uniformly over the whole crosssection of the chambers.
