Abstract

1,062,394. Burner control systems. HONEYWELL Inc. Feb. 11, 1966 [Feb. 19, 1965], No. 6066/66. Heading F4T. [Also in Division H2] A control arrangement for a burner such as a gun type oil burner unit including an electric motor, for driving a fuel pump or a blower, and having both start and run windings, comprises a fast acting flame sensor 30, such as a cadmium sulphide cell, operating a motor start switch 24 through a relay 25, and a thermally actuated delay switch 21 normally closed and connected through a heater element 42, the flame switch 24 opening when a flame is present but the motor run windings 23 remaining energized, the arrangement being such that if the current flowing through the motor rises abnormally the heater 42 causes switch 21 to open. The switch 21 is mounted in the motor housing so that it will respond to an abnormally high motor temperature and also open in the case of such a fault.
