Abstract

1,062,306. Toiletry dispenser. LUSTROID Ltd. Jan 5, 1966 [March 15, 1965], No. 10913/65. Heading A4V. [Also in Division F1] A dispenser for toilet requisites, Fig. 1 (not shown), comprising a tubular container (1) having one open end (2) which may be closed by a removable cap and a piston (9) which is mounted on a screwthreaded spindle (6), one end of the spindle protruding through the closed end (3) of the container and fixed to a wheel (12), which when turned will rotate the spindle, moving the piston towards the open end of the container thus discharging the contents; a collar (7) for the spindle in engagement with the inside surface of the closed end, of the container to prevent movement of the spindle in an axial direction and the spindle and its collar being one integral moulding of polypropylene while the wheel is another, is assembled by inserting the spindle in the container with one end protruding as described, with this end fitting into a socket (13) in the wheel, and rotating the wheel relatively to the spindle so that the heat generated by friction melts the polyproylene and welds the spindle in place in the socket. Oil may be applied between the wheel and the container so that the heat generated by friction here causes the end of the container to expand and become domed, thus pressing firmly against the collar on the spindle, whilst causing no welding.
