Abstract

1,061,733. Propelling aircraft. H.-W. VON ENGEL. Feb. 11, 1964 [Feb. 15, 1963], No. 5669/64. Headings B7G and B7W. [Also in Division F3] Propulsive and manoeuvring forces on a flying body are produced by the emission of charged particles, as at 4, e.g. by electrically charged jet propulsion gases or #-radiation, the flying body thus becoming charged and influenced by natural or artificial electrostatic fields. Emitters of charged particles may be mounted on the body so that the direction of emission is variable. The body may be cylindrical, lenticular, annular, or composed of two truncated cones placed base to base. Two lenticular bodies may be superimposed and joined by a waisted section. The body may have a circular wing, or two such wings superimposed.
