Abstract

1,060,880. Measuring dust concentration. INSTITUT NATIONAL DE RECHERCHE CHIMIQUE APPLIQUEE. June 28, 1965 [July 9, 1964], No.27334/65. Heading G1A. The concentration of dust in a gas e.g. air, is determined by passing the gas through a filter, and measuring the transmissivity or absorption of the dust laden filter to alpha, beta, or gamma rays. The measurement may be made whilst the dust is being deposited on the filter, which may be of paper, felt, or textile material or subsequently. The filter may be fixed, or may be moving continuously or intermittently at variable speeds. Figures for deposits of silica dust using caesium 137 as the particle source are exemplified.
