Abstract

Tell-tale apparatus for indicating, at a distance, the level of liquid, such as petrol, in a receptacle, has a switch arm B (the position of which depends upon the liquid level) adapted to :rake contact with one of a number of contacts individually connected to corresponding brushes at the indicator bearing on a conducting disk H. When the arm B rests on any contact, the circuit of a motor L is completed through the corresponding brush, and the motor is adapted to rotate the disk H, through suitable gearing, until the motor circuit is broken by an insulating segment J carried by the disk coming under the brush. The position of a pointer K carried by the disk then corresponds to that of the arm B. A reversing-switch arm B<1>, which follows the arm B frictionally until arrested by one of two stops C, D, makes connexion with one pole or the other of the current source N so that the motor drives the disk H in a direction corresponding to that in which the arm B last moved. A counting train may be added to the apparatus.
