Abstract

1,058,503. Memorandum appliances. F. GREIF. Oct. 22, 1965 [May 10, 1965], No. 19726/65. Heading B6A. In a paper-roll memorandum device there are two separate electric motors, one for winding the paper on to one reel, and the other for winding the paper on to the other reel, the motors being battery-operated and in a circuit controlled by a single hand-operated switch. The casing may be of plastics material and comprises a body 6 and a hinged cover 7 with a window aperture 8. A chassis secured to the base 13, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), carries in open-ended slots the two reels 27 for the paper web 28, the writing platen 46, the two motors 32, 33, and the driving and switching means. Each reel is driven by means of a resilient wheel 38 on a spindle 39 carried by a pivoted lever 40 which is spring-urged to engage the wheel 38 with both the spindle (34 or 35) of a motor and a serrated flange 44 of a reel. The inside of the cover 7 has ridges 45 which engage the spindle ends 26 of the reels and ensure driving contact of the flanges 44 with the wheels 38. The switch comprises a knob 11, which projects through a slot in the cover 7, having a lever 19 which is pivoted near its lower end to provide an arm 20 adapted to rock a port-disc 17 through a small angle in one of two directions, and to connect contacts 16 to one motor or the other. Batteries 49 are held in clips 48 on the chassis beneath the platen 46. Open-ended slots 50 in the body 6 can receive a spare reel of paper.
