Abstract

1,058,367. Levelling staves. N. R. WALLIS. Dec.21, 1965 [Dec.22, 1964], No.52142/64. Heading G1F. A surveyor's levelling staff comprises at least one mercury switch in circuit with a lamp at the head of the staff the contacts of the switch only being completed when the staff is vertical so that an indication of this is given to an operator sighting on the staff. The circuit may include an interrupter unit so that when the mercury switch contacts are closed the light flashes on and off.
