Abstract

In a pulp press comprising an end press fed by a pre-press, the pre-press comprises a plurality of screw spindles rotatable on parallel axes, each spindle having spiral flights which are mutually intermeshing, the on to contour of the flights being closely surrounded by a common perforate strainer, and the end press comprises one or more rotatable screw spindles with spiral flights, each spindle having an individual perforated strainer closely surrounding its flights.
