Abstract

The shuttles of a travelling-wave shedding loom have weft sufficient for a single pick blown into them from a continuously fed yarn. In Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), weft 30 is supplied by rollers 43 to a stationary air nozzle 20 that communicates with a stationary knife plate 21 which bears on a knife plate 23 which rotates with a four armed member 40 having weft discharge nozzles 39 on alternate arms. A device (for alternate shuttles) is at each side of the loom. As an empty shuttle arrives adjacent a nozzle 39, and rotates with it, yarn is blown down the nozzle 20 through the plates 21, 23 and into the shuttle. When the shuttle has traversed 90 DEG the plates 21, 23 cooperate to shear the yarn and transfer it to the other nozzle 39 to be blown into the next but one empty shuttle. In Fig. 9 to 11 (not shown) the four arms 40 each have a nozzle 39 so that all shuttles are filled at one side of the loom. In Figs. 12 to 14 (not shown) a circularly arranged loom has it shuttles filled over an angle and produces a flat sheet fabric.
