Abstract

The invention comprises a process for preparing corticoid esters of formula <FORM:1055492/C2/1> wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms or in combination a double bond, R3 is a b -hydroxy or keto group, X is a hydrogen or fluorine atom, Y is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl or methyl group or, in combination with the 17a -hydroxy group, a 16a ,17a -diol acetonide group, and Z is a direct link or a carbonyl or methylene group, by reaction of the esterifying acid first with N,N1-thionyl-di-imidazole and then with the steroid alcohol.
