Abstract
1,055,034. Control systems for lifting magnets. TRUNINGER A.G. Feb. 3. 1964. 4445/64. Heading H2H. A system for controlling the energization of a lifting magnet has the winding 10 of the magnet permanently connected to the output of a rectifier 4 supplied from a three-phase source over a main switch 1 and a contactor 2. Reverse energization of the winding 10 is provided by a transformer 12 and rectifier 18. When it is desired to drop the load on the magnet contactors 2 and 11 are opened and contactors 16 closed. The collapse of the magnetic flux in the winding 10 produces a voltage which bucks the voltage from the rectifier 18 so that initially a relay coil 21 remains de-energized. As the voltage due to the collapse of the flux decreases the relay coil 21 becomes energized to close contacts 24 thereby applying reverse energization to the magnet winding 10. When the reverse energization reaches a predetermined value a relay 8 is energized sufficiently to cause its contacts to make thus to effect opening of contactors 16 so switching off the reverse energization of the winding 10. The pull-in point of relay 8 may be adjusted by means of a variable resistor 28.
