Abstract

1,054,429. Plate-type evaporators. A.P.V. CO Ltd. Nov. 11, 1965 [Dec. 10, 1964] No. 50391/64. Heading BIB. [Also in Division F4] In a plate-type evaporator, there are provided, in the same frame as the plates of the evaporator section, additional plates between which the liquid-to-be-evaporated is preheated with part of the heating vapour fed to the evaporator section. The apparatus shown comprises a triple-effect plate evaporator A, B, C, and a plate condenser D. Effect B is provided with a preheater stage R; and effect C and condenser D have preheater stages Q and K, respectively. The feed liquid is pumped first through stage K and subsequently through stages Q and R. The preheated feed is then introduced into effect A, which is supplied with live steam. The process vapours separated in separator A' are used as heating medium in effect B. The process vapours produced in effect B are used as heating-medium for effect C. The vapours from effect C are passed to condenser D.
