Abstract
1,054,363. Clamping-dogs. POWER JACKS Ltd. March 31, 1964 [April 4, 1963], No. 13340/63. Heading B3B. A work-holding device comprises a clamping arm 17, which can be swung clear of the work and is operated to clamp the work by fluidpressure means, and an hydraulic bias control valve 33, which is ineffective during clamping to prevent loss of maximum available pressure. When pressure is supplied to a passage 36, a piston 21 moves to swing the lever 17 to clamping position. As pressure builds up, the valve 33 is lifted to allow a piston 32 to be raised to operate the clamping lever. In its upward movement, a ring 35 on the piston 32 lifts the valve 33 clear of its seating. When pressure is released, a torsion spring 25 swings the lever clear. The piston 21 and the torsion spring housing 26 can be reversed to swing the lever in the opposite direction.
