A two step operation switch comprises a pivoted " push-button " operating member 39, movable to depress a plate 12 rectilinearly against a spring 10 such that bent portions 13, 13<SP>1</SP>, thereof actuate contact sets 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, through actuators 37, 37<SP>1</SP>, and a bar 17 mounted on plate 12 for movement therewith and spring- pressed into the guide groove 20 of a slide member 19, such that depression of plate 12 causes bar 17 to move slide member 19 against its spring 25 until bar 17 is locked in position at P, Fig. 3, and subsequent depression of plate 12 causes bar 17 to return to its initial position O Projections 22 and recess 21 on slide member 19 allow for the connection together of a plurality of members 19, whereby with one switch in its " off " position and another switch in its " on " position, depression and release of either operating member will restore said other switch to its " off " position (Fig. 8, not shown). Alternatively, depression and release of the first operating member only will restore said other switch to its " off " position, i.e. selective operation, as in Fig. 6 (not shown).
