Abstract

1,052,573. Packaging stockings. W. ROSSLER. April 13, 1965 [April 22, 1964], No. 15776/65. Heading B8C. [Also in Division D1] A pneumatic mechanism is provided associated with a circular knitting machine and operates by drawing a cast-off stocking into a cylindrical container 7 gripping the stocking at one end by a gripper 5 whereafter the air flow is reversed so that the stocking is held horizontally extended. The flow of air is then shut off and the bottom of the container opened as the gripper simultaneously releases the stocking to let it fall into a deep tray positioned beneath the container. A number of stockings produced on the machine are thereby laid out in the tray one piled on another. In the event of the gripper 5 failing to hold the stocking when the flow is reversed the loose stocking impinges on an electrical contact 6 which operates to stop the machine.
