Abstract
1,052,484. Sulphonic acids. BRITISH HYDROCARBON CHEMICALS Ltd. May 21, 1965 [May 23, 1964], No. 21423/64. Heading C2C. The invention relates to a process for the production of sulphonic acids which comprises reacting a hydrocarbon, e.g. a cyclic, singly branched or normal paraffin with sulphur dioxide and oxygen in a sulphoxidation reaction in the presence of an organic acid salt of a metal of Group V to VIII of the Periodic Table, e.g. magnesium, iron, cobalt, nickel, tungsten, molybdenum, chromium or palladium.
