Abstract
1,051,852. Bags. STERILON CORPORATION. Feb. 3, 1964 [July 17, 1963], No. 4427/ 64. Heading A5R. [Also in Divisions A4 and B8]. A medical liquid containing bag 10 comprises a tubular body portion to which is attached a combined handle and closure device in the form of a plate 20. The plate 20 is attached to bag 10 at zone 21 such that it has a skirt portion 24 lying free along the attached side bag portion. The skirt portion 24 has an aperture beaded 27. The skirt portion 24 may be manually engaged and levered outwardly from bag 10 whereby the zone of attachment 21 acts as a fulcrum about which the plate 20 may be rotated disposing the plate 20 in flatwise condition against the other side of the bag. During the rotating process the bag will have been folded a plurality of times along lines parallel to the mouth rim portion of the bag to provide a secure liquid seal. The plate is curved and made of springy material such that applying pressure to the sides opens the bag and on subsequent release of said pressure the bag assumes a substantially closed position (Fig. 2 not shown). The bottom of the bag may be provided with a nipple 12 for connecting to a tube 14 (Fig. 6 not shown). The bag may be provided with markings to indicate the quantity of liquid. The bag may be made of transparent of translucent polyethylene or vinyl polymer; and the plate of metal or plastic.
