Abstract
1,051,101. Reversible ploughs. D. R. BOMFORD. Feb. 22, 1965 [Nov. 9, 1964], No. 7579/65. Divided out of 45616/64 ABANDONED. Heading A1B. In a tractor-drawn reversible plough, the plough beam 10 is moved about pivots 12 and 13, between the full and broken line positions shown in Fig. 2, by linkage including a hydraulic ram 72, 73, the beam being rotated under the power of the ram up to and at least partly beyond a deadcentre position. In each of the two ploughing positions, pivot points 71, 74, 76 are in line. To reverse the beam, the ram is first contracted so that the link 75 is moved against a stop 77 (as shown) or 78 and the beam is then swung over until the pivot points 13, 71, 74 are in line. The ram is then expanded and the beam completes the movement assisted by its own weight, the link 75 then swinging over to the broken line position. The supporting crossbeam 20 is mounted on a wheeled carriage off-set from the tractor, and is connected to a tractor draw bar 61 by a bar 3 having a projection engageable in either of two depressions in a locking member 80. The plough may include a castor wheel 41 and stabilizing rod 54 as in the plough of Specification 950,912.
