Abstract

Moulded block polymers are made by mechanically working a mixture of a vinyl chloride homo- or co-polymer and a conjugated diene, with or without another unsaturated monomer, moulding the resulting polymer into the required shape and then vulcanizing it. As a vinyl chloride copolymer starting material there may be used a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer. Conjugated dienes and other unsaturated monomers specified are butadiene, isoprene chloroprene, styrene, vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile and methyl methacrylate. Also present in the mixture which is mechanically worked may be vulcanizing agents, plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers and pigments.
