Abstract
1,049,054. Photographic materials. ILFORD Ltd. Aug. 11, 1965 [Aug. 14, 1964], No. 33242/64. Heading G2C. A photographic material comprises a silver halide emulsion containing a silver halide developing agent coated on a support and in the emulsion layer or a layer adjacent to it a salt of a compound of formula: where X is a sulphur atom or a group NR where R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl group; where Q is an oxygen or sulphur atom or a group NR 1 where R 1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl group and R 2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aryl, alkyl thio or aralkyl thio group; or where X is an oxygen or sulphur atom and D represents the carbon atoms necessary to complete a five-membered ring which may be substituted by alkyl, aralkyl or aryl groups or may have a fused on benzene ring the said salt being insoluble in water but soluble in aqueous ammonium thiocyanate solution. Specified metals forming salts are Ag, Hg, Cu, Cd, Pb, Zn, Se and Co.
