Abstract
1,048,037. Building element for roofs &c. MOBIL OIL CORPORATION. June 12, 1963 [June 19, 1962; Dec. 14, 1962], No. 23405/63. Heading E1V. A building element A B C D in the form of a shell comprises three triangular surfaces AFG, GFD, and DGA of a tetrahedron extending upwardly towards an apex G, in association with two upwardly extending triangular surfaces ABF, FCD whose base lines AF, FD are common to two of the lines defining the base AFD of the tetrahedron. The element may be formed from a flat rectangular blank of bendable material which is slit from the edge to the apex on that part of the blank which is to form the surface DGA, Figs 1 and 2 (not shown). The elements may also be made of concrete. A plurality of the elements may be assembled to form a roof, adjacent elements being connected side-byside along their edges AB, CD, and end-to-end along their edges BF, FC which together define a V-formation, and supported from lower and upper spaced horizontal beams 42 (not shown) and 40 respectively which are mounted upon at least one column. The elements may also be used for forming walls.
