Abstract
1,046,147. Heat exchanger tubes. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Feb. 10, 1965 [Feb. 27, 1964], No. 5816/65. Heading F4S. [Also in Division G6] A tubular heat exchanger element comprises cooling fins arranged in sectors of parallel fins 2, the fins of neighbouring sectors being inclined in mutually opposite directions and having the outer half or less of each fin locally deformed into undulations each fin comprising one half to two wavelengths. As shown a sheath 1 for a nuclear fuel element has fins extending over an even number of sectors 3a, 3b, 3c ... &c. over which cooling fluid flows in the general direction of arrow 4. The upper part of the fin is deformed into undulations of amplitude not exceeding half of the width of the channels separating successive fins in each sector. Separating walls may be engaged in longitudinal passages 5 separating adjacent sectors.
