Abstract

1,045,488. Lathes; milling. PLESSEYUK Ltd. Aug. 9, 1963 [Aug. 24, 1962], No. 32553/62. Headings B3K and B3T. An attachment, for a lathe turret having a rotary spindle 6, to enable a knife-edge 22 to be machined on a workpiece 1, comprises a geardrive 19, 16 for rotating two milling-spindles 11, having cutters 12 arranged to cut the knife-edge faces. The attachment casing 2 is secured by a screw-operated wedge clamp to a stub shaft 5 around which the driving spindle 6 rotates. The cutter spindles are each adjusted axially by a dial and nut 14 and a thrust ball 13. The cutter teeth intermesh. The work is supported by a collet-head 23 supported by spring-pressed rods 24.
