A lead through for an electrical cable 12 through a wall 11, e.g. of a cap of a housing 10 of an electrical capacitor or the like comprises a sleeve 13 which is formed on the cable by spraying the cable with a thermoplastic synthetic material, e.g. P.V.C., after it has been passed through and is centred in a hole 11<SP>1</SP> in the housing wall, and which serves to anchor the cable. The sleeve 13 is provided with flanges 13<SP>1</SP> which engage the inside and outside surfaces of the housing wall.
