Abstract

1,044,035. Getter-ion pumps. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 30, 1963 [June 18, 1962], No. 21757/63. Heading H1D. [Also in Division H5] A getter pump has a heating element disposed within the pump so as to heat the enclosing walls of the pump to drive off occluded gases by convection whilst the pump still contains gas at an appreciable pressure, thereby heating the whole interior surface of the enclosing walls of the getter pump and enclosure to the effect that unwanted water and gas molecules absorbed in the walls can be expelled. At least parts of the walls are protected with heat insulating material to reduce heat losses from the interior of the pump and enclosure.
