A multilayer material for the production of coloured photographic images by colour development comprises a red sensitized silver halide emulsion containing an azo dye stuff of the general formula: - in which Y represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl, carboxyl sulpho, sulphonamide, nitro or acylamino group, L represents a group imparting solubility in water e.g. carboxyl or sulpho X represents an oxygen or sulphur atom or an imino or alkyl imino group and D represents an alkyl group containing at least 10 carbon atoms as the colour coupler for cyan. Specified colour couplers are 4- (2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxy-phenyl azo)-1-hydroxy-2-(N-{2<SP>11</SP>- stearyloxy - 5<SP>11</SP>- carboxy -phenyl}) -naphthoamide; 4-(2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxy-3<SP>1</SP>-methyl-phenyl azo)-1-hydroxy-2- (N-{2<SP>11</SP> - methyl; stearyl amino- 5<SP>11</SP> - sulpho-phenyl})- naphthoamide;4-(2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxy-3<SP>1</SP>-carboxy)- 1- hydroxy-2-(N-{2<SP>11</SP>-methyl-stearylamino-5<SP>11</SP>-carboxy-phenyl})-naphthoamide; 4-(2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxy-3<SP>1</SP>- carboxy-5<SP>1</SP> - sulpho)phenyl azo)-1-hydroxy-2-(N- {2<SP>11</SP>-methyl stearyl amino- 5<SP>11</SP> -sulpho}) -naphthoamide; 4-(2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxy-5-sulpho phenyl azo)-1-hydroxy-2-(N-{2<SP>11</SP>-stearyl amino-5<SP>11</SP>-carboxyphenyl})-naphthoamide and-4-(2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxy-5<SP>1</SP>- carboxy)-1-hydroxy 2-(N-{2<SP>11</SP> stearyloxy-5<SP>11</SP>-carboxy -phenyl}) -naphthoamide .
