Abstract
1,042,190. Retractable undercarriages. ELECTRO HYDRAULICS Ltd. Dec. 29, 1964 [Dec. 24, 1963], No. 50958/63. Heading B7G. A retractable aircraft undercarriage comprises wheels 5a, 5b, 5c on trailing links 1a, 1b, 1c arranged in line astern and pivotally mounted with respect to the aircraft, shock-absorbers 6a, 6b, 6c connecting the links to a common linkage 8 and an hydraulic jack 9 for effecting an arcuate movement of the common linkage to raise and lower the wheels. Struts 7a, 7b, 7c pivoted to the aircraft and to joints between the shock-absorbers and the linkage 8 transmit the vertical loads, and constrain the linkage to move in an arc. The links 1a, 1b lc may alternatively be leading links, and the jack 9 which preferably contains mechanical locks may be replaced by a rack-and-pinion device.
