Abstract

1,041,922. Cages for rolling bearings. A.B. SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN. April 22, 1964 [April 26, 1963], No. 16732/64. Heading F2A. In a method of making a cage for a rolling bearing, each of a plurality of axially-extending bars 1 (Figs. 1, 2, not shown) is attached to an end-ring 2 by a rivet-shank 4 of circular crosssection which is integral with one end of the bar and engages with a corresponding hole 5 in the ring, shoulders 8 on the bar being in abutment with a lateral surface 23 on the ring, wherein an annular recess or rebate 6 provides clearance for burrs at the perimeter of each hole. Alternatively, the rivet-shanks and holes in the ring may have a substantially trapezoidal profile 10, 11, 17, 18 in cross-section (Figs. 3, 4, not shown), the lateral surface of the ring adjacent the bars being provided with two concentric annular rebates 15, 16 which are in register with the radially inner and outer edges 17, 18 of the holes, respectively. The cage may comprise a single end-ring with bars integrally connected to one another in the form of a comb; otherwise, the cage may comprise two endrings with the bars extending therebetween.
