Abstract
1,041,595. Animal holding appliances. T. S. LEWENS. Nov. 23, 1964 [Nov. 22, 1963], No. 46318/63. Heading A5R. An animal holding appliance comprises a transverse lower element 6 with a median downward depression 7, for receiving an animal's neck, which element is adjustable in height, and an articulate transverse upper element 9 for retaining the neck in the depression. The lower transverse element 6 is supported by vertical side members 3 with respect to which it is vertically adjustable, the lower part of the depression being supported by a cross-bar 5. The upper element is pivotal at one end to the lower element or a side member, Fig. 4 (not shown). A releasable spring catch 12 secures the upper element at the other end to hold the animal's neck. The side members 3 are mounted at corners of a base frame 1, which contains a wooden tray 2, and are supported by struts 4. The upper and lower elements may be pivotal about one vertical side member, Fig. 4 (not shown), to form a gate, the free ends of the elements carrying a latch for engagement with the other side member.
