An expansion vessel 14 is mounted immediately above a liquid-filled space-heating radiator 10, the vessel projecting beyond the front of the radiator so as to form a deflector for the rising hot air. The vessel may as shown be supported from the radiator by a connecting pipe 13. A lid 17 to the expansion vessel is provided enabling the level of the liquid to be inspected and maintained below an overflow pipe 19. When installed in a central heating system with a plurality of radiators, the radiator combining the expansion vessel is placed at the highest level of the system, the overflow 19 leading back into the system or to waste.
