Abstract
1,040,437. Batteries. YARDNEY INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. July 22, 1963 [July 25, 1962], No. 28946/63. Heading H1B. The silver electrode of a silver-cadmium cell contains a compound of lead. The percentage of lead compound present is between 6 and 20% and preferably 10% of the weight of the electrode. Lead oxide, PbO, is specified as the lead compound. A mixture of silver (particle size 2 to 9 microns) and lead oxide (particle size 1 to 2 microns) is pressed to form a plate and then sintered. A silver connecting tab completes the electrode. The cadmium electrode consists of a powder of CdO, silver and a binder, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, pressed on to an expanded silver grid.
