A room heating or cooling device comprises a plurality of heating or cooling rods or tubes 2 passing through flanges 3 at the ends of plates 1 arranged in series. The plates are substantially U-shape (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown), or have side flanges to form an open box (Figs. 3-6, not shown) which may have fins 6. The series of plates may be bent from a strip, or formed from plates formed and connected by brazing, welding, gluing or bonding. The tubes are of circular, oval or star-shaped cross-section, or rods comprising electric heating elements are used. In Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), clips formed in or fixed on to each plate serve the tubes. Insulation 7 with reflecting foil 8 may be provided between the tubes and the room wall and may be provided in a cover 16 (Fig. 7, not shown), fitted over the plates and tubes. Perforations in plates or cover deaden sound.
