Abstract

A fertilizer having a density of 40-80 lb./cu. ft. is produced by mixing peat and a fertilizer comprising P, K and/or N constituents with an equal weight of water, cooking under pressure at above 180 DEG F., cooling centrifugally to 180 DEG F., depressurizing, adding 40% (based on dry peat and fertilizer) of marl containing calcium and magnesium, reducing the pH to 4 or below by adding 3% (based on dry peat and fertilizer) of aqueous nitric or phosphoric acid, adding water to form a sludge, and drying at a temperature of up to 160 DEG F.
