Abstract
Smoke is produced by passing oil along a duct, bleeding CO2 continuously into the duct to produce a foam and heating the foam to produce smoke. In the apparatus described and depicted in Fig. 1 (not shown), CO2 from a reservoir and at a pressure of about 12 p.s.i.g. is used to force oil (e.g. liquid paraffin B.P.) from a reservoir into a pipe into which the CO2 is bled. The foam passes to an electrically heated coil and thence to an outlet nozzle. Various adaptors for use with the device to give different discharge flows of smoke are described.
