Abstract

The invention comprises oestradiol derivatives of the formula <FORM:1039447/C2/1> wherein one of R1 and R2 is a hydroxyl group or a liposolubilizing ester group and the other of R1 and R2 is a nicotinyloxy group. 3b -Hydroxy - 17b - mononicotinyloxy - 1,3,5(10) - oestratriene is obtained by hydrolysing oestradiol dinicotinate. The 3b -benzoyloxy-, 3b propionyloxy-, 3b -heptoyloxy-, and 3b -undecanoyloxy-compounds are obtained therefrom by acylation. Pharmaceutical compositions having trophic and anabolic activity are administered parenterally.
