Abstract

The invention comprises 7-nitro-5-(21-fluorophenyl) - 2,3 - dihydro - 1H - 1,4 - benzodiazepinone-(2), its 1-methyl derivative and their acid addition salts. These compounds are prepared by standard methods. The preparation of 2-amino-21-fluorobenzo-phenone, 2 - bromoacetamido - 21 - fluorobenzo-phenone and 5 - (21 - fluorophenyl) - 2,3 - di-hydro - 1H - 1,4 - benzodiazepinone - (2) is described. The compounds of the invention have outstanding muscle relaxant and anticonvulsant activity and can be used for the relief of tension and also in depressed states associated with tension. They may be administered enterally or parenterally in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them, with or without other (unspecified) active ingredients, in association with a carrier.
