Abstract

1,038,533. Heat treatment furnaces. NIKEX NEHEZIPARI KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT. March 18, 1963, No. 10643/63. Heading F4B. A continuous heat treatment furnace comprises an arched roof 3 and concave hearth 2 with tangentially disposed burner ports 4, 4a and offtakes 5, 5a feeding flues 6, and with openings 8 in a front wall for the introduction of an envelope of protective gas. Ingots 7 are pushed through the furnace on skid rails 11 and the hearth 2 slopes down to the furnace front where a taphole is provided for molten slag. Excess protective gas is burnt with air supplied in the preheating section. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), there is a single series of offtakes 5 and burner ports in the same side wall.
