Abstract
1,035,667. Washing dust from gases. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G. April 11, 1963, No. 14683/63. Heading B1R. Dust-containing gas from a sintering furnace is injected at 2 with water from a subsequent washing step 1 in such an amount that the temperature of the gas is lowered to just above the critical dew-point before it enters a mechanical or electrostatic dust-removing plant 3, and is again injected with water in a washer 5 in such an amount that the water recovered from the washer 5 is sufficient to supply the water needed at 2gamma for granulating the zinc from the sintering furnace. The critical dew-point is defined as being that of water in the case of a mechanical separator such as a cyclone and as that of sulphuric acid in the case of an electrostatic precipitator.
