A crown cap 1 of a flexible plastics material comprises a conical portion 5, a groove embracing a bottle lip 10 and a projection 4 releasably engaging under the lip so that the cap can be removed and replaced repeatedly. The groove may contain a removable metal foil annulus. A handle may be integrally formed with the cap.
