Abstract
1,035,302. Ventilators. T. H. F. SPALDING. June 10, 1965 [July 30, 1964], No. 30244/64. Heading F4V. [Also in Divisions E1 and E2] The panes of a louvre window are supported at each end in clips 2 which are pivoted to channel - shaped mullions 1 and connected to a linkage (not shown) in one mullion for simultaneous operation. The mullions have complementary cut - out portions A, B at each end so that a number of mullions may be mated end to end to build a window of the desired height. The cut-out portion B extends less than halfway across the mullion and may locate a lower cross member 4 of the window frame. The cutout A, bounded by faces a 1 and a 2 , therefore extends more than halfway across the mullion, and a set-back tongue 5 is necessary to locate the cross member 3 of the frame in a position which does not prevent closure of the panes. The cross members 3 and 4 may carry sealing strips to abut the adjacent panes when closed. The clips may be pivoted on a raised plinth, formed longitudinally on the mullion (Fig. 2, not shown) of sufficient width to accommodate the overlapping clips when closed.
