Abstract

The invention comprises reactive dyes of the formula <FORM:1035006/C4-C5/1> wherein PC is a phthalocyanine radical, A1, A2 and A3 are each hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical, R1 is the radical of an azo dye, R2 is a substituted or unsubstituted divalent aliphatic, aromatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic radical or together with A1, A2 and the two nitrogen atoms a divalent heterocyclic radical, w is an amino group which may be substituted and Z is a radical containing at least one substituent capable of reacting with fibres having hydroxyl and/or amino groups to form a covalent bond, m, n, p and q each are 1 to 3 and m + n + p + q is 4 to 6 and wherein the dye contains sufficient water-solubilizing groups for water-solubility. Z may be haloalkanoyl, alkenoyl, haloalkenoyl, halotriazinyl, halopyrimidyl or may be derived from tetrameric cyanogen chloride or bromide and a number of such groups are specified. The dyes are made by condensing a phthalocyanine di-, tri- or tetra-sulphochloride or mixture of such sulphochlorides with suitable amines, including either (a) an amino azo dye to form the radical -N(A3)-R1, or (6) an amine having a diazotizable amino group or a group convertible thereto as a substituent followed by diazotization and coupling.
