Abstract

In a stocking or the like made substantially wholly by rotary knitting from thermoplastic yarn, the heel part and, if desired, the sole contains tuck stitches which are more centrated than any that may be formed in the instep fabric and the stocking is completed by joining the blank across the foot end and boarding it. The tuck stitch fabric may comprise wales of tuck stitches alternating with wales of plain stitches or pairs of wales forming combined tuck stitches alternating with pairs of wales of plain stitches. The toe may be reinforced in the normal way. The stocking may be knitted on the machine described in Specification 1,034,805.
