Abstract

1,033,994. Sockets for posts. NUNEATON ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 18, 1965 [April 18, 1964], No. 16165/64. Heading E1B. A post is supported in a conical or cylindrical socket 13 of a base 10-11-12 by wedges inserted into channels formed in the wall of the socket, the bottoms 16 of the channels diverging upwardly from the socket axis. The base has ground-engaging pads 10a, 11a, 12a which may be laterally extended, Fig. 6 (not shown), to increase resistance to tipping. In a modification the single channels shown are replaced by groups of three channels of differing depths to accommodate posts of different thicknesses.
