Abstract

1,033,689. Pipe connectors. GURTNER S.A. May 13, 1965 [June 5, 1964], No. 20238/65. Heading F2G. A device for connecting a threaded pipe to an apparatus provided with a connecting sleeve (not shown) surrounded by a ring which in one angular position causes at least one ball to protrude through the wall of the sleeve in to its bore and in another angular position allows the ball or balls to withdraw into a recess in the ring comprises an intermediate connector (Fig. 3) screwed internally at 4 to receive the threaded pipe against sealing washers 10 and having an external end (seen at top in Fig. 3) of the same external diameter as the inside of the sleeve around which is a circumferential groove (Fig. 1, not shown) into which the said ball or balls lock when they protrude. Opposed flats at 3 on the external cylindrical port co-operate with flats inside the sleeve to locate the intermediate connector. The unthreaded end 7 is bored out to receive a nipple (not shown) inside the sleeve for which a sealing ring 9 is provided in a groove 8.
